Lancer changelog

In a world of super intelligent, all powerful agents, what software is worth its subscription?

When Upwork already has its own native MCP, what category software is worth its subscription?

Those are the questions around which I build and improve Lancer daily.

The answer?

A platform that abstracts away all the tedious parts of automating everything and anything on Upwork, while empowering your AI agent and yourself to be 100x more productive with proprietary heuristics, tools and platform data.

The proof? Our changelog below 👇

This is what you pay for. A product obsession that manifests in daily improvements, so you spend your time winning deals, delivering work and spending time on things you like, not clicking away on Upwork or putting together your own automations that end up as Cronenberg-like amalgamations.

Send a proposal from Claude or ChatGPT for any job

Paste any Upwork job link into the Lancer MCP and send a proposal from Claude or ChatGPT. Bids also go out about a minute faster, and new jobs reach you sooner.

  • New

Send a proposal for any Upwork job from Claude or ChatGPT

Paste a job link into the Lancer MCP and Lancer drafts the letter, lets you adjust it, and asks before it sends. The Send Proposal page now points to this.

  • New

See the files and highlights each proposal went out with

Each lead now shows which files and profile highlights were attached when the proposal was sent, so you can check without guessing.

  • Improved

Bids reach Upwork about a minute faster

Lancer spends less time waiting on pages while it sends, so your proposals land earlier on fresh jobs.

  • Improved

New jobs reach you sooner, and chat approvals send now

New jobs are picked up within seconds and matched every minute. Approving in Slack or Discord sends right away instead of waiting out the campaign delay again.

  • Improved

Portfolio thumbnails are ready when you open the picker

The Select portfolios dialog no longer fills in one image at a time. Thumbnails load quietly in the background beforehand.

  • Fixed

More jobs show their connects price again

Many jobs had lost their connects price since mid-October. Lancer now reads it correctly, so you can see the cost before a proposal goes out.

  • Improved

Connect no longer offers countries Upwork doesn't serve

The country picker when connecting an Upwork account leaves out Iran, Russia and Belarus, where Upwork isn't available.

Set a minimum boost as low as 1 connect

You can now set a campaign's minimum boost to 1 connect ($0.15) instead of 10. Smart attachments also stop dropping files on 3-case campaigns.

  • Improved

Minimum boost can go as low as 1 connect

You can set a minimum boost of 1 connect ($0.15) instead of 10. New campaigns still start at 10 connects ($1.50), so nothing changes unless you lower it.

  • Fixed

Smart attachments no longer drop your files on 3-case campaigns

On campaigns with three cases, some proposals went out with no files attached. Lancer now picks the right cases and attaches them reliably.

  • Improved

Skipped bids no longer show as failed

When Lancer deliberately doesn't bid, for example the boost is above your max or you already applied, the lead shows as skipped instead of a red failure. Your failure numbers are more accurate.

  • Fixed

Campaign stats no longer miss events during slow moments

A few campaign funnel updates were lost today when things ran slowly. Lancer now tries again, so your campaign numbers add up.

  • Fixed

Pipeline treats teammates as you, and meeting cards open

Messages from your teammates now count as yours, so the Your turn chip is right. Deals with meeting or file cards no longer crash when you open them.

  • Fixed

Opening a campaign no longer changes its filters

Just viewing a campaign used to save its filters again. It no longer does, and a button problem on the campaign page is fixed.

  • Improved

Pay-Per-Lead pricing now says there is a base fee

The card reads low base fee, then pay per conversation, and says the base fee includes your first leads. Prices, plans and limits are unchanged.

Filter your Pipeline by start date

Show only deals that began in the last 7, 30 or 90 days, or pick a custom range. The Pipeline also loads faster and its cards now show whose turn it is.

  • New

Filter your Pipeline by when a deal started

Show only deals that began in the last 7, 30 or 90 days, or pick your own range, so old conversations stay out of your working view. Lancer remembers your choice.

  • Improved

Pipeline cards show whose turn it is

Cards are tinted by source and show the last message, deal value and how long a reply has been waiting. Click a card to open the deal. A new banner flags suggested moves.

  • Improved

Pipeline loads much faster on big accounts

A board with thousands of conversations now fills in about a second instead of four. Switching to Archived and filtering by value or date are quicker too.

  • Improved

Boosting now needs a minimum of 10 connects

A campaign with boosting on can't be saved with a minimum boost under 10 connects ($1.50), because a lower minimum does nothing on most jobs. This applies in the app, Claude and ChatGPT.

  • New

Partner teammates get an invite email, and teams get an owner

People you add to a partner team now receive an email with a sign-in link. The owner stays an admin and is the only one who can remove or demote other admins.

  • Fixed

Signing out from the paywall works cleanly

Signing out while on the paywall no longer sends the page into a loop. You land on the sign-in screen as expected.

Watch your Upwork connection happen, page by page

After you connect Upwork, each page now shows a drawn scene that follows your real progress, flags failures clearly, and can be replayed. Campaign pages also open much faster.

  • New

Connecting Upwork now shows a live scene on each page

On your accounts, inbox and pipeline pages, a drawn scene follows your real connection progress and shows clearly if sign-in fails. You can replay it if you missed it.

  • Improved

Campaign pages show jobs in about a second

Opening a campaign with a long keyword list used to take 12 to 15 seconds. Jobs now appear much sooner, and the rest of the page follows right behind.

  • New

Partner dashboard for agencies managing many clients

Agency teammates sign in with an emailed code, see every client with live stats, and add new clients in three steps. Buttons and inputs now share one consistent look.

  • New

Agencies pay for all client organizations with one card

Add a card once, create up to 10 client organizations at a time, and see each one's renewal date and invoices on one page.

  • Fixed

Pipeline no longer shows a pile of old hires to confirm

After you connect Upwork, only hires made since you connected appear for review, dated by when the client accepted. No more long lists of false hired-today jobs.

  • Improved

New partner teammates get their Claude and ChatGPT key right away

Your personal connection key works before your first client exists. Until then, Lancer tells you plainly that you have no organizations yet.

  • Improved

Proposals are written with a newer AI model

Lancer drafts your proposals with the latest model and keeps the previous one as a backup, so drafts stay reliable.

Deals Won: track hires, deal values and wins

Lancer now detects Upwork hires, moves them to Won with a deal value and celebrates the win. Pipeline and Inbox get search and filters, and Tasks are rebuilt.

  • New

Deals Won: track deal values and celebrate your hires

Lancer spots Upwork hires, moves them to Won with a deal value and celebrates the win. Pipeline and Inbox get search and filters, and Tasks are rebuilt with due dates and notes.

  • New

Connecting an Upwork account fills your Inbox and Pipeline

After you sign in, Lancer loads your conversations and moves past Upwork hires to Won on its own. You watch each stage fill up live, with no extra Connect Inbox step.

  • New

Pipeline lists wins, meetings and contracts to confirm

The review panel and weekly email show every move Lancer detects, hires first. A conversation that appears under both an agency and a freelancer account is counted once.

  • Improved

Jobs show their true age when Upwork held them before publishing

Upwork creates some jobs hours before it publishes them. Lancer now shows the real age in the app and in Slack and Discord, so you can judge how fast it finds jobs.

  • Fixed

Pipeline totals follow your filters, and the default deal value can b…

Column dollar totals match the account you filter by. New Leads and Lost no longer show the default value, and $0 is accepted. The dialog now says deals that already have a value keep it.

  • Improved

Pipeline and Inbox search is faster and stays current

Searching accounts with thousands of conversations takes less time. A card you move during a search lands in its new column right away, with the right count.

  • Fixed

US-only jobs are no longer shown as Worldwide

Jobs limited to the US or UK keep their real location, so you stop seeing jobs you cannot apply to. An unknown connects price now shows as empty instead of 0.

  • Fixed

Quoted phrases in custom job searches stay together

A phrase in quotes after title, description, category or skills is now matched as a whole, including with NOT. Your custom searches return the jobs you meant.

  • New

UK Only campaigns for UK Upwork accounts

Link a UK account to a UK Only campaign and bid on jobs Upwork restricts to UK freelancers. The region picker shows UK Only next to Worldwide and US Only for everyone.

  • Improved

No Delay now means no delay

Campaigns set to No Delay used to wait a minute before bidding. Jobs that fit only one campaign also skip a fixed 20 second wait, so proposals go out sooner.

  • Fixed

Budget rules in your Knowledge Base save through Claude and ChatGPT

A rule like skipping jobs whose post text states a budget under $500 is now accepted when your agent adds it to your Knowledge Base, instead of being refused.

Failed bids show the real reason they failed

When a proposal doesn't go out, the bid details now show the cause our engineers found, such as a job limited to US freelancers, instead of a generic message about it maybe having been sent.

Pipeline stages are fixed, with a Won dialog

Every pipeline now has five fixed stages and room for four of your own. Moving a deal into or out of Won asks a quick question, so your Deals Won totals stay accurate.

  • New

Pipeline gets five fixed stages and a Won dialog

Every board has New Leads, Meeting booked, Proposal sent, Won and Lost, and you can add up to four steps of your own. Moving a deal into or out of Won now asks you a quick question.

  • Fixed

Opening a conversation in Inbox no longer crashes

Conversations open normally again instead of showing an application error.

  • Fixed

Approving a lead mid-bid no longer causes a duplicate bid

If you approve a lead while Lancer is already sending its proposal, the sent proposal stays as it is and the lead is no longer marked as failed.

  • New

The newsletter gets a signup page and a feed of every issue

Read each issue on the web, newest first, with share buttons, and sign up from the same page. It is wider and lighter on large screens.

  • Fixed

Deals Won and the weekly email show only your own clients

On shared Lancer accounts, your Deals Won count and share card no longer include other teams' wins. Your weekly pipeline email lists only your own clients.

Connecting Upwork shows live progress and real errors

The Connect an Upwork account form adapts to how you sign in and shows each step as it happens. If something goes wrong, you see the real reason and can retry without a duplicate account.

  • Improved

Connecting Upwork shows live progress and clear errors

One form asks how you sign in and shows only the fields you need, with the reason for each. You watch each step as it happens, and if something fails you see the real reason.

  • Fixed

Boosted proposals read your Connects balance again

Lancer reads your remaining Connects correctly, so boosts are no longer skipped as too high and buying more Connects kicks in when you are short.

  • Improved

Every email from Lancer has the same clear design

Password reset, team invites, setup invites and failed-proposal alerts now share one layout with a clear button and a plain explanation of what happened and what to do.

  • Fixed

Retrying a failed connect no longer creates a second account

If the first attempt fails, your account stays on the page with Fix and Retry. The next try reuses it instead of adding a duplicate.

  • Fixed

Client-only Upwork logins get a clear message

If a login has no freelancer profile, Lancer says so right away instead of failing with a confusing error after many tries.

Share your wins with a Deals Won card

Your dashboard now shows pipeline and won value for any period, and you can download a results image to post. A default deal value means your totals no longer show $0.

  • New

Set one typical deal value for your whole team

Every deal without its own value now counts at your default, so your Pipeline totals and Deals Won card stop showing $0. A value set on a single deal always wins.

  • New

Deals Won card and a shareable results image on your dashboard

See pipeline and won value for any period, and download a card to post your wins. Renamed Pipeline columns are now read correctly, and the Share dialog is tidier.

  • New

Inbox suggests the next stage for a conversation

When Upwork reports an event like an accepted offer, Lancer offers to move the deal to Won and set its value in one click. The same hint shows on the Pipeline card.

  • Improved

Failed bids now say why, and what to do about it

Instead of a bare Bid failed, you see a plain reason and whether the fix is yours. The explanation is always fresh when you open it, even after a retry.

  • New

Email when a failed bid needs your action

If a bid fails because of something on your side, like a changed password or no connects left, Lancer emails the owners and managers with the reason and the fix.

  • Fixed

    Invitations are answered reliably

Lancer no longer bids on Upwork emails that are not invitations. Invitations are also still picked up when email forwarding is set up but not delivering.

  • Fixed

Fewer bids fail on screening questions

When an answer to a screening question does not stick in the Upwork form, Lancer now gets it in another way, so fewer bids end with Please fix the errors below.

  • Improved

The sidebar is grouped into Find work, Win clients and Setup

The ten sidebar items sit in three groups with thin dividers, so it is quicker to find what you need.

Campaign filters update much faster

Changing filters on your campaign page now updates counts, keywords and skills sooner. The counts also use the same jobs-per-month measure as the forecast, so the numbers agree.

  • Improved

Filter counts match the forecast on your campaign page

Region tabs and the other filter counts now show jobs per month, the same measure as the forecast at the top. The selected tab and the header finally show the same number.

  • Improved

    Campaign filters update faster

Counts, top keywords and top skills load quicker when you change a filter, so tuning a campaign takes less waiting. Counts are several times faster than before.

  • Fixed

Changing several filters in a row no longer loses edits

If you changed a few filters quickly on your campaign page, some changes could get dropped. They now stick.

Add Lancer to Slack before you even have an account

You can install Lancer from Slack first and sign up afterward. Once you sign in, your Slack workspace connects to your organization automatically.

  • New

Install Lancer from Slack, then connect it after sign-in

You can add Lancer to Slack before you have an account. A new Lancer page walks you through it, and once you sign in or sign up your Slack workspace connects to your organization.

  • Improved

Proposals greet more clients by name

When a job has no past client reviews, Lancer now uses the client's first name from the job itself. Your proposals open with a proper greeting more often.

  • Improved

Removing Lancer from Slack switches off campaigns that used it

Uninstalling the app or revoking its access now disconnects your workspace and pauses the campaigns that posted there, the same as disconnecting by hand. Nothing keeps running against a removed connection.

  • Improved

The Lancer Slack app asks for fewer permissions

Installing no longer asks to read message history or join channels, because Lancer never used either. The app also has its own icon and a quieter home tab.

  • Fixed

Slack reconnect keeps the right organization

If a reconnect fails and you press Try again, you stay in the organization you started from. Before, it could drop you into whichever one your dashboard had selected.
